Rooibos Good Luck Tea 100g Bio-Flavo

Rooibos Good Luck tea is a product which, apart from Rooibos (aspalat), consists of various fruits such as pineapple, papaya, raisins, freeze-dried strawberries and raspberries, rose petals and sunflower seeds and aroma.

Rooibos is an African rooibos (Aspalathus linearis) that comes from South Africa where it grows wild in the Cederberg Mountains.

On plantations, its leaves are collected in the form of needles in January, cut into short lengths and usually fermented, thanks to which it obtains a reddish-brownish color. The raw material is then dried in the sun. Rooibos can be used green, but is not as popular as fermented.

Composition and properties of Rooibos

Rooibos does not contain theine or caffeine, so it can be consumed even before bedtime, as it does not have a stimulating effect.

The fresh leaves contain a lot of vitamin C, which, however, is destroyed by fermentation. Rooibos infusion contains some amounts of potassium, magnesium, calcium, sodium, fluoride, manganese, zinc, copper, iron.

Rooibos contains valuable polyphenols; benzoic acid from the phenylcarboxylic acid group, cinnamic acid from the phenylpropene group with antioxidant, bactericidal and antifungal properties, flavonoids such as quercetin and rutin from the flavonol group, luteolin and chrysoeriol from the flavone group, which have anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, anti-oxidant and antithrombotic properties. The glycosides found in rooibos, such as aspalathin, have a proven anti-diabetic effect in relation to type 2 diabetes. Quite strong antioxidant properties (against free radicals) indicate a significant anti-cancer and anti-mutagenic potential of rooibos infusions. These properties are conducive to the proper functioning of the cardiovascular system (prevention of atherosclerosis, heart attack, strokes). Regular drinking of rooibos infusions significantly lowers blood pressure and promotes faster liver regeneration. Rooibos soothes stomach pains, helps with intestinal problems. Drinking rooibos also supports the respiratory system (asthma, bronchitis), has an expectorant effect. Rooibos infusions have been found to help with weight loss.

Making Rooibos Tea

A teaspoon of excellent Rooibos Good Luck is poured into a cup of boiling water at 95 ℃ and brewed for about 5-10 minutes. The infusions are reddish with a sweet, honey-fruity aftertaste and a fruity-rose aroma.
