Sesame is a valuable source of amino acids necessary to build the muscular system or the proper functioning of joints. Most of them are glutamic acid (4.2g/100g) and arginine (2.5g/100g). Sesame seeds are also rich in fats, especially from the omega-6 group, such as linoleic (LA). We also find here a lot of B vitamins (mostly B3, but also B1, B2, B6), which affect, among others, on protein metabolism, formation of blood cells, proper functioning of the nervous and cardiovascular systems, proper functioning of the brain. Vitamin E as the "vitamin of youth" has a strong anti-aging effect, improving the appearance of the skin and hair. Valuable minerals of phosphorus, calcium and magnesium contribute to healthy bones and teeth, preventing osteoporosis, helping with rheumatoid arthritis, and the presence of potassium helps in lowering blood pressure. Magnesium itself also has an anti-stress effect and improves mood. Zinc content supports the prostate. The presence of copper helps with rheumatoid arthritis.
Sesame seeds are a source of plant phytosterols, which have a positive effect on LDL cholesterol levels in humans, prevent atherosclerotic changes in blood vessels, and prevent prostate cancer. Sesame seeds, although they are caloric, have a low glycemic index IG = 35, so they can easily be consumed by diabetics.
It should also be added that sesame can cause allergies manifested by anaphylactic shock.

Polyphenols contained in sesame seeds
Sesame contains lignans (sesamin and sesamolin), which normalize the level of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood, protect the liver, have a strong anti-cancer effect due to the huge antioxidant potential (help in the fight against prostate or breast cancer).
