Rwanda Rukeri Organic black tea is grown in the Rukeri valley, on volcanic soils. It's a great choice for morning breakfast tea. It gives an intense, strong, aromatic Assam or Ceylon style brew. It leaves a malty aftertaste with a nut-fruity undertone.
Black tea is obtained by fermenting the leaves collected from the Camellia sinensis bush. As a result of this fermentation, the numerous catechins present in the leaves (up to 40% of the dried material) are transformed into theaflavins and thearubigins. And it is thanks to them that the infusions have a brownish color.
Rwanda Rukeri Organic black tea and health
Black tea contains a lot of nutrients. The presence of theine has a stimulating effect, increasing the metabolic rate, improving reflexes and concentration. Theine, similarly to caffeine, "repels" drowsiness, makes you feel better. Black tea containing fluoride prevents tooth decay. It has been proven that drinking black tea prevents heart disease, atherosclerosis, and the development of glaucoma. It was also found that it has an antioxidant effect, and therefore anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory. Consuming several cups a day can increase bone mineral density.
Chemical composition of Rwanda Rukeri Organic black tea
It contains a lot of biologically active compounds and nutrients such as purine alkaloids (theine), proteins (tryptophan), lipids, vitamins A, E, K, B group. There are also minerals such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, aluminum , iron, manganese, selenium, fluorine. The most significant group, however, are polyphenols (flavonoids, phenolic acids), i.e. catechins, which are strong antioxidants.

Polyphenols and their effects
Simple phenolic acids can be distinguished here, of which gallic acid (from the phenylcarboxylic group) with antioxidant activity predominates. However, there are much more flavonoids, among which we will find;
a.flavanolsi.e. catechins (epicatechins, epicatechin gallate, epigallocatechins and the most epigallocatechin gallate) - very strong antioxidants that reduce the level of LDL cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood, have anti-mutagenic properties, significantly lower blood pressure, help with weight loss, are helpful in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases , help fight diabetes
b. flavonolsi.e. quercetin, kaempferol, myricetin with significant antispasmodic, antioxidant (anti-cancer), anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-fungal, anti-atherosclerotic, anti-thrombotic properties
Black tea in cooking and cosmetics
Rwanda Rukeri Organic black tea is poured with boiling water and brewed for 3-4 minutes. You can brew two or three times. Black tea stimulates, refreshes and puts you in a good mood. It is suitable for compresses that soothe sunburns, perfectly regenerates the skin, reduces puffiness around the eyes.
