Light dried apricots 1kg by Makar

Clear dried apricots are the fruits of the common apricot (Prunus armeniaca). These apricots are dried in the sun but are sulfurized with SO2. Light dried apricots have a number of health-promoting properties and should definitely be included in our diet more often.

Benefits of eating dried apricots regularly

The presence of a wide range of B vitamins has a beneficial effect on the nervous and cardiovascular systems, preventing atherosclerosis by lowering the level of homocysteine, which is conducive to the formation of this disease. Vitamins of this group have a beneficial effect on the skin, proper functioning of muscles, help in the absorption of minerals, and the formation of blood platelets. A large amount of vitamin A (especially β-carotene) improves the appearance of the skin, supports the fight against acne and vision problems.

The presence of the above vitamins, as well as vitamins C and E and flavonoids has anti-aging, anti-radical and anti-cancer properties. Calcium, magnesium, phosphorus prevent osteoporosis. Potassium is responsible for regulating blood pressure and water management in the body, supports the functioning of the kidneys and promotes the proper functioning of the neuromuscular system. Large amounts of iron prevent anemia (in case of problems with anemia), support immunity, reduce fatigue.

Valuable fiber, which is a lot in dried apricots, improves digestive processes, improves intestinal peristalsis, which eliminates the problem of constipation, helps maintain cholesterol at an appropriate level (especially soluble fiber in the form of pectins). Dried apricots have a positive effect on the kidneys, have an alkaline effect, which is why they are recommended to people struggling with acidity. A large group of valuable substances are also organic acids present in dried apricots, such as tartaric, lemon, apple, commonly used in the food industry as acidity regulators and antioxidants.

Polyphenols in light dried apricots and their health-promoting properties

The polyphenols include:

- flavanols, i.e. catechins, epicatechins, tannins with antibacterial, antiviral, anticancer, anti-inflammatory and antiatherosclerotic properties

- phenylcarboxylic acids such as gallic with antioxidant activity

- phenylpropenoic acids such as coffee, coumaric, ferulic with a stronger antioxidant effect than gallic acid

- lignans that support the fight against cancer (e.g. prostate, breast), osteoporosis, with too much LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, while having much stronger antioxidant properties than, for example, vitamin E.
