Plums are fruits known since prehistoric times and obtained from the Prunus domestica tree. There are many varieties that differ in fruit size, skin color and taste. The most popular variety used for the production of dried fruit is Hungarian.

Health benefits of regular consumption of prunes

They contain a lot of fibre, especially its soluble fraction, i.e. pectin, and thus prevent colon diseases and constipation, and reduce the level of "bad" LDL cholesterol. They also have a lot of vitamin K supporting m. blood circulation, as well as potassium (helps in the fight against hypertension), magnesium, calcium, phosphorus (which together counteract osteoporosis), and some copper, manganese. Of the other vitamins, there is also a lot of anti-aging vitamin A and group B, which have a soothing effect on the nervous system.

The peel contains sorbitol (non-digestible sugar alcohol), which supports the multiplication of good intestinal bacteria, improves intestinal function (evacuation), helps with overacidity.

They can contribute to the increase in bone mineral density, therefore they should be consumed by postmenopausal women.
