Gunpowder Temple of Hunan tea leaves are tightly rolled into gunpowder-like balls. The infusion is intense, strong, slightly tart. Best drunk neat in the afternoon or evening, also tastes good with lemon or mint. Green tea is obtained from the Camellia sinensis bush, which grows mainly in Asia.

 

The beneficial effect of drinking green tea on the human body

There are many nutrients in tea leaves. These include theine (a form of caffeine), which has a stimulating effect and thus accelerates the heart rate, increases the rate of burning, improves concentration, reflexes, reduces drowsiness, and puts you in a better mood. Tea prevents tooth decay (fluorine content), heart and circulatory system diseases, atherosclerosis, and the development of glaucoma. It also has diuretic properties.

Substances hidden in green tea leaves

Tea leaf drink has many priceless properties. It contains a lot of biologically active compounds and nutrients such as purine alkaloids (theine, theobromine), amino acids, lipids, vitamins A, E, K, and B vitamins. There are also elements such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, aluminum, manganese, iron , selenium, fluorine. However, the main characteristic of tea leaves is the abundance of phenolic compounds (polyphenols), the most of which are catechins, powerful antioxidants.

Polyphenols and their wonderful properties

Polyphenols include:

  • Phenylcarboxylic acids such as gallic acid with antioxidant activity
  • Flavonols such as kaempferol, myricetin, quercetin, which have diastolic, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-sclerotic, anti-thrombotic, anti-cancer properties
  • Flavanols i.e. mainly catechins (epicatechins, epicatechin gallate, epigallocatechin gallate EGCG), which are much stronger antioxidants than vitamins C and E and work as above, but also reduce LDL cholesterol, have antimutagenic properties, lower blood pressure, help fight obesity, prevent cardiovascular diseases, support the fight against diabetes, accelerate fat burning.

 

Use of tea in the kitchen and more

Green tea is brewed at a temperature of 70-80 °C for 2-4 minutes at a dose of 1g of dried material per 100 ml of water. This tea can be brewed several times. The first infusion has stimulating and refreshing properties, while the next ones are calming and relaxing. In China, it is traditionally poured for a short time, for half a minute, but in a dose of 3-5 g of dried material for the same amount of water. Then it burns a couple more times, ten seconds longer each time.

Green tea is commonly used in cosmetology for the production of lotions, creams, tonics and even perfumes.
