Heather honey 1100g Apiary 

Heather honey is made on the basis of nectar obtained by bees from heather (Calluna vulgaris). This honey has a delicate heather aroma, it is not as sweet as other honeys. It is pleasant in taste, slightly tart and bitter. It has a darker color than other honeys because it contains a lot of proteins. Fresh, in liquid form it is dark amber, and after crystallization from yellow-orange to brown and often jelly-like in consistency. It contains more water than other honeys, up to 23%. It is commonly used in gastric (gastrointestinal) problems, in diseases of the throat and oral cavity, in urinary tract diseases.

Nutritional value and ingredients of heather honey

Heather honey contains flavonoids (quercetin, rutin, tannins), phenolic acids (caffeic, chlorogenic), other organic acids, simple sugars (glucose and fructose from predominance of the latter), which constitute 70-75% of the content, essential oils, proteins (also enzymes), vitamins (B5, B9, A, C), minerals (magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, iron).

Properties of heather honey

• strengthens both physically and mentally, with a nourishing and regenerative effect - hence recommended in stressful situations, when the body is exhausted, but also for athletes (thanks to the presence of B vitamins)
• works as an antibiotic, supporting the body in diseases of the upper respiratory tract (throat, flu, colds)

• anti-inflammatory (antihistamine)
• has antibacterial, antiviral properties (presence of flavonoids)
• improves the condition of the cardiovascular system, prevents cardiac arrhythmias, facilitates blood circulation
• stabilizes blood pressure
• helps with urinary tract problems, kidney diseases (lithiasis), prostate problems
• improves intestinal function, promotes the development of good bacterial flora, which leads to better absorption of nutrients
• applied externally, it improves the appearance of the skin (cleanses, moisturizes, regenerates) and rejuvenates it,
• reduces inflammation of the stomach, eliminates constipation and diarrhea

Use of heather honey

Forest honey is a great addition to toast, bread, pancakes and desserts. It can be added to oatmeal, dried fruit, chilled tea or coffee as a sugar substitute. You can also use it on cooled water and drink it after a few hours with the addition of lemon, preferably early in the morning to increase the body's immunity.
