Red Pu-erh tea 100g Bio-Flavo
Red Pu-erh tea is obtained by partial fermentation of green leaves, as it is broken when the tips of the leaves become reddish-brown. They are then matured in dark caves for up to several dozen years. Red teas have a specific, earthy aroma and spicy taste. We will find in them more valuable polyphenols, enzymes and vitamins than in black teas.
Chemicals present in red tea
Red teas contain many biologically active compounds, such as secondary metabolites, i.e. alkaloids, polyphenols, minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron, selenium, manganese, fluorine, vitamin E, or group B. The content of theine (a purine alkaloid, a form of caffeine) in in combination with the presence of tannins, it helps to burn fats faster. Theine absorbed in the intestines has a stimulating effect, although less than coffee already absorbed in the stomach. Red teas are high in oxalate, so don't overdo it as it can upset your kidneys.
Valuable polyphenols in red tea and their beneficial health properties
We find here some phenylcarboxylic acids, such as gallic, with antioxidant properties.
There are also some flavonols, such as:
- kaempferol with anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, diastolic properties
- quercetin with antiatherosclerotic and antithrombotic properties
- myricetin showing anticancer activity.
But the largest group are flavanols, especially catechins, the largest of which is epigallocatechin gallate. These compounds have a very strong antioxidant effect. They also have antiviral, antibacterial, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-atherosclerotic and anti-mutagenic properties. It was also found that they lower LDL cholesterol, lower blood pressure, support faster metabolism, promoting weight loss. To enhance slimming, it is recommended not only to limit the amount of food, but also to drink a cup of red tea after meals.

How to prepare red tea
This tea is brewed in water at a temperature of 80-90 degrees Celsius for 3-7 minutes; then the infusion has a calming and relaxing effect. Shorter brewing gives a stimulating, refreshing tea.
