Yunnan Silver Tips green tea 100g Bio-Flavo

Yunnan Silver Tips tea comes from the Chinese province of Yunnan. The leaves are characteristically slightly curled with silvery tips. The infusions taste slightly bitter in combination with a pleasant sweetish note.

Green tea comes from the Camellia sinensis shrub commonly cultivated in Asia and Africa.

Green tea - impact on the human body

Green tea leaf infusion has many valuable properties because its leaves contain many nutrients. Particularly noteworthy is theine (a form of caffeine), which has a stimulating effect, i.e. accelerates the heart rate,but also increases the metabolic rate, improves concentration and reflexes, repels drowsiness, improves mood. Green tea prevents tooth decay (fluorine content), heart and circulatory system diseases, atherosclerosis, the development of glaucoma, has a diuretic effect.

Substances hidden in green tea leaves

Green tea, including Yunnan Silver Tips, contains many biologically active compounds and nutrients such as purine alkaloids (theine , theobromine), amino acids, lipids, vitamins such as C, A, E, K, B group. There are also macroelements such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, aluminum, manganese, iron, microelements such as selenium or fluorine. But above all, phenolic compounds (polyphenols) are important, and most of them are life-giving catechins, which are strong antioxidants.

Polyphenols and their wonderful properties

Polyphenols include:

  • Phenylcarboxylic acids especially antioxidant gallic acid
  • Flavonols like kaempferol, quercetin with diastolic, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-fungal, anti-atherosclerotic, anti-thrombotic, anti-cancer properties
  • Flavanols (in dry matter up to 40%) i.e. catechins, e.g. epicatechins, epicatechin gallate, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which have a stronger antioxidant effect than vitamins C and E ; it is known that they work as above, but also reduce LDL cholesterol, have antimutagenic properties, lower blood pressure help in the fight against obesity, prevent cardiovascular diseases -vascular, support in the fight against diabetes, accelerate fat burning.

Green tea is brewed at a temperature of 65-80 °C for 2-4 minutes by pouring 1g of dried material into 100 ml of water (Western way). Good quality tea can be brewed several times. The first infusion has stimulating and refreshing properties, while the next ones are calming and relaxing. Some recommend that the first infusion should be discarded, as it may contain a lot of impurities. Green tea is commonly used in cosmetology for the production of lotions, creams, tonics and even perfumes.
